Customers often ask us: "What is the right size TV for my room?
Choosing the right TV for your family room depends on two equally important considerations: the size of your budget and the size of the room. Its tempting to have the largest size imaginable with all the bells and whistles, but your budget may ultimately put a limit on which TV to choose.
To get a true immersive viewing experience, where you feel part of the action and see all that is happening on screen, the size of your TV should be decided based on how far you generally sit away from the screen.
What is the Optimal Screen Size ?
To choosing the best TV screen size , you need to know your viewing distance. In other words, how far away will you be sitting from the TV in normal watching situations. there are various ways of calculating this, but a simple, commonsense approach is to divide the viewing distance in centimetres by 3 to get your recommended size. So, if for example, you are sitting around 3 metres (or 300 cms) away from where the TV is then 300 divided by 3 is 100 cm or approximately 40" (which is the diagonal measurement of the screen). At this distance you will see all the detail that today's High Definition TV can deliver.
Screen Size and Resolution
The larger the screen size, the more important screen resolution becomes, and with more and more programs, sporting events and movies being broadcast in High Definition, and showing details like never before, it is advisable to get a TV that offers Full High Definition to get the best possible viewing experience.
Screen resolution is measured by the number of pixels. Depending on the model, a 720p HDTV gives you 1024 by 768 pixels, 1280 by 720 pixels, or 1366 by 768 pixels. The more pixels, the sharper the image will appear. A TV with 1080p resolution is known as a Full HD TV and offers 1920 by 1080 pixels. You will notice a significant difference in the sharpness of image on video game consoles, Blu-ray discs and true HD TV broadcasts.
Ultra HD or 4K Resolution offers 3,840 x 2,160 pixels which can be best appreciated when watching Ultra HD Blu Ray or UHD streaming content from Netflix, Amazon and others.
